Money-saving tips for Jordan

  • Jordan Pass: If visiting Petra 1+ days, the Wanderer Pass (70 JOD) includes the 50 JOD Petra entry and waives the 40 JOD visa — saving 20 JOD minimum per person.
  • Shared transport: JETT buses Amman↔Petra cost ~8 JOD vs 60-80 JOD for a private transfer.
  • Eat local: Falafel sandwiches cost 0.5 JOD; a full mansaf meal at a local restaurant is 5-8 JOD vs 20+ JOD at tourist restaurants.
  • Book GYG tours in advance: Tours booked online are often 10-20% cheaper than on-site. Check for free cancellation options.
  • ATMs over exchange desks: Bank ATMs give the best JOD rate. Avoid changing money at hotels (5-10% margins).
