About these rates
The Jordanian dinar (JOD) is pegged to the US dollar at a fixed rate of 1 USD = 0.709 JOD (approximately). This peg has been maintained since 1995 and is managed by the Central Bank of Jordan. As a result, JOD/USD conversions are highly stable.

Practical tips: ATMs in Amman, Petra (Wadi Musa), Aqaba and Jerash dispense JOD at interbank rates. Avoid changing money at hotel desks — margins are typically 5–10%. Most tourist sites, mid-range restaurants and tour operators accept USD or EUR, but you'll always get better value paying in JOD.
